A Brief History

Ski Montcalm was founded in 1969 by Tadek Barnowski. A ski champion in Poland, his dream was to build and operate a ski resort in Canada. His job as a lift engineer brought him to Rawdon, Quebec, in the Lanaudière region. He discovered the mountain and began to clear and build lifts. This was the beginning of Ski Montcalm. A passionate skier, industry pioneer and innovator, Barnowski developed the four sides of the mountain, creating a diversity of trails and skiable terrain never before seen in the region.

Today, the tradition continues and his children John and Joanna now manage the ski resort with enthusiasm and dynamism. Their mission is to continue to provide the best skiing conditions, unparalleled service and a warm atmosphere where it is great to ski with family and friends. Over the years, thousands of skiers and snowboarders have made their debut and become just as passionate. Now it’s your turn to experience it.
